I’m thrilled to announce that “The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie” has been nominated for the prestigious
Dilys Award. The Dilys Wynn Award is presented annually by the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association (IMBA)
to the book its members most enjoyed selling during the year, and is named for Dilys Winn, who founded the first specialty
mystery book store in the U.S. Readers will remember with pleasure her wonderful books, Murder, Ink and Murderess, Ink, those rainy day reference
works that kept you soaking in the bathtub until you resembled a prune.
The 2009 nominees are:
The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, Alan Bradley, Delacorte
A Quiet Belief in Angels, R.J. Ellroy, Overlook
The Dark Horse, Craig Johnson, Viking
The Girl Who Played with Fire, Steig Larsson, Alfred A. Knopf
The Ghosts of Belfast, Stuart Neville, Soho
The Brutal Telling, Louise Penny, Minotaur
The Shanghai Moon, S. J. Rozan, Minotaur
It’s especially pleasing to see fellow Canadian Louise Penny’s “The Brutal Telling” nominated. Louise won the Dilys in 2007 for “Still Life”,
the first in her series of Armand Gamache mysteries. If you haven’t already discovered Louise’s books, you have a wonderful treat in store.
